Did you know that when the Holy Spirit dwells inside us, we have supernatural power? It’s the power to live a life that’s pleasing to God — a life that we could never live on our own apart from Him. When we stop living for ourselves and start living for Him, we experience life’s true source of pleasure that surpasses anything we could find in this world.

We’ve all heard the phrase “separation of church and state”. But what about the phrase “separation of God and career”? Often, we identify ourselves by the jobs we do and the money we make. But inviting the Lord into our lives isn’t limited to Sunday mornings — it needs to happen Monday through Saturday too, including in our businesses and our workplaces.

Saying YES to Jesus and saying NO to sin. These both get easier to victoriously accomplish when we build them into our daily thoughts, daily routine, daily habits, and daily actions. Say YES to Him yesterday, say YES to Him today, say YES to Him tomorrow.

Most of us operate according to a “live & learn” mentality. What would happen if we flipped those two principles to “learn & live”? The Bible teaches us that when we obtain godly wisdom, it can help us avoid having to learn from our mistakes the hard way. But the only way it will make a difference in our lives is if we take the wisdom God gives us and apply it to our choices on a daily basis.

Hot Head: Living with the absence of patience, poise, and peace. Living with a short fuse. Living like it’s always everyone else’s fault. Living through the filter of getting even. The solution? Invite God to trim that branch, to cut it off, to graft in its place His patience, His poise, His peace, and especially His love for others.

The only way for our nation to be godly is if its people are godly and choose to trust the Lord with their lives. It’s one thing to slap a bumper sticker on our car saying, “In God We Trust”, but it’s another thing to live it out daily. If we want our country to progress towards godliness, we have to allow God to use us to touch the lives of those around us.

It’s okay for us to be “baby Christians” for a while when we’re new believers! But at some point, we’re expected to step up and take responsibility — both for the way we live and the way we lead. When it comes to our relationships, godly men should be standing up as leaders in their families and in their church, and godly women should be seeking these kinds of godly men.

The Bible tells us that the world is headed down the easy, wide path to destruction. But as followers of Christ, we’re called to follow God’s spiritual “gate change” announcement and walk the narrow path to eternal life instead. Taking the road less traveled might be difficult — but it’s worth it for the reward we have in Jesus.

Throughout the Bible, God lays out a path to warn us against sin and to help us avoid the consequences of our bad choices. But in order to walk that path, we have to choose to follow His way instead of our own! Not only that, but when we commit to riding in God’s lane, we should be on the lookout — to take with us anyone else who’s willing to come.

It’s easy to think that the grass is greener “on the other side”. But the truth is this: the grass is greener where you water it! Instead of giving into temptation and chasing after what the world has to offer, God’s calling us to focus on all that He’s blessed us with in our marriages, our families, our careers, and in the people He’s made us to be.

The Bible tells us of God’s character, and it describes all the things He created as “good”. And when we surrender our lives to Him, He works in us to manifest goodness and mercy in our lives. If we claim to follow Jesus, our lives should be breaking off what’s bad, holding fast to what’s good, and trusting that His will for us is always better than what we could attain for ourselves!
