Heaven Forbid |
3.12.24 |

No one can purchase salvation. It’s not up for bid; it can only be received as a free gift from God. Even after we accept that gift, we’re bound to fall and fail, but because of His relentless grace, we’re able to get back up and continue to follow Him.

We love to talk about “cancel culture” these days. But when it comes to our spiritual fate, we were born into sin and there’s nothing that can cancel our debt to God — except for Jesus Christ. He died on our behalf and offers to trade our one-way ticket to hell in for a one-way ticket to heaven, but it’s up to us to believe and accept His gift of redemption.

Up A Tree |

We can’t perform our way into Heaven; Scripture tells us that by grace we have been saved through faith. The Old Testament Law, and all the earthly rules we could follow, ultimately come with a curse of death because it’s impossible to follow them all. Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection from the grave changed everything, and only through Him can we be saved from the fate we deserve: death up a tree.

All I Want For Christmas Is You |
12.13.23 |
|
The Christmas story is about Jesus giving Himself for us. He came to earth as a baby who would grow up to die for our sins. And in response, He asks us to love Him with our whole selves and hold nothing back. When we give Him all of us, it’s amazing how He uses that commitment to change the world around us.

Sometimes, God works in miraculous ways that leave us “shook”. But more often, we overlook the greatest miracle He’s already performed: bringing each of us from spiritual death to life. Scripture tells us very clearly that there will come a day when we’ll bow before Him. Are we going to spend our time from now until that day wishing He’d perform miracles the way we want Him to, or marveling at the miracle it will be to experience eternal life with Him?

Jesus’ death was sufficient to save us once and for all. We don’t have to identify ourselves by the sin we’ve committed, and live our lives by our transgressions. He offers us a clean slate when we accept His free gift of salvation — a gift that was made possible only by His death on the cross, and that has the power to change us for eternity.

Jesus took upon Himself all the transgressions of human history. He died on the cross as the perfect sacrifice God required for the atonement of your sin and mine. Because of Him, we’re made clean and righteous in the Father’s eyes. But to receive this free gift, we first have to respond. Are you going to accept or decline His invitation?

In Genesis, we read about how God saw the evil in this world and destroyed the earth with a single flood. He only left eight obedient people and a bunch of animals to rebuild. The New Testament promises us that one day, God will destroy the heavens and the earth — and Jesus is our only way of escape.

The Bible is perfectly clear: There’s only one way to the Father, and it’s through the Son. In a world where live-and-let-live mentalities prevail, countless religions profess to hold the secrets to happiness, and we’re all encouraged to seek our own “truth”, it can be difficult for us to focus on what’s actually true. But Jesus Christ alone died, was buried and raised from the dead for our sins, and the only road to eternal life is through accepting Him as Lord and Savior.

Being “good” isn’t bad — it’s just not good enough. The Bible’s clear that the only way for us to be redeemed from our sin is through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. We’re all born into sin, and we must all be spiritually born again in order to be saved.

Christmas Present |

Before the world ever began, God knew there would need to be a plan for redemption, and He incorporated that plan into every aspect of His masterful handiwork. Because of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we’re offered the gift of salvation at no cost to us — all we have to do is receive it.

Salvation goes beyond a “get-out-of-jail-free” card and a ticket to Heaven. It involves living a life of peace and joy through Jesus while still here on earth. So often we accept Christ and then continue living in our own power, trying to fix our own sin, when in reality, God empowers us through His Spirit to overcome that sin if we’re just willing to submit our lives to Him.
