There are too many different elements of the Gospel story that line up perfectly for it to be dismissed as coincidence. It’s not bad to question why we believe what we believe, but at some point we have to have faith in what the Bible says or pass it off as nothing more than a hoax. If it’s a hoax, there’s no “Christ” in Christmas…and if there’s no “Christ” in Christmas, then we’re still waiting for a Messiah who will come and save us from our sins.

Scripture tells us that as believers, we walk by faith and not by sight. The Bible itself is filled with stories that seem crazy to many, but those who believe are given the privilege of seeing and experiencing the power of God. And the best part is this: the miracles that Jesus performed when He walked on earth are the same miracles that continue to happen today through us, the Body of Christ!

It’s both normal and acceptable to have questions and doubts — about God, about Jesus, about life itself! But it’s important that when we’re looking for solutions, we seek them first and foremost in God’s Word. When Scripture gives us the answers that we’ve been searching for, we’ve got to take them at face value because the cost of remaining skeptics is much too great.

1 Corinthians 1:18 tells us, “The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” When we read the Gospel message — that Jesus came to earth, lived, died for us, and rose again from the grave — it sounds foolish. But to those of us who hear that message and believe, it becomes our very breath of life.

Society tells us that if there’s a God, there are many ways to get to Him, and Jesus is just one of those ways. But the Bible is the Word of God, and the Bible tells us that Jesus is the only path to the Father. If we want to be in relationship with God, we first have to come to terms with the fact that the Bible isn’t just some religious book — it’s Living Truth.

The world is full of generally-accepted beliefs that are completely countered by Scriptural truth. No matter how much we’ve been told something, or how fervently we want to believe it, the fact remains: if it doesn’t match up with what the Bible tells us, it isn’t true. Before we can engage in productive conversations in our world today, we have to first be grounded in the truth of God’s Word.
