Scripture tells us that when we give our lives to God, He doesn’t just refinish what’s here — He makes us completely new. It takes time for new Christians to grow and mature; that’s why we all have a responsibility to be discipled and to disciple others.

The devil’s out to destroy physical life and spiritual life alike. Our job is to take a stand and fight to protect the lives that God’s created. Just like a physical seed has to be planted in order for physical birth to happen, a spiritual seed has to be planted in order for us to be spiritually born again.

Everyone has been born, but not everyone has been “born again”. The distance between our first birth, and a “spiritual second birth” is only an invitation away. Then, our second birth in Christ gives us the power to have victory over all our first-birth issues!

Adam was the first man to come into the world, and he screwed everything up when he introduced sin into humanity. That’s why Jesus came and paid the price to offer us a second birth — a chance to be born again so that when we die physically, we don’t have to die spiritually too.

The Samaria region of Israel was THE textbook example of an area divided simply because of religious-hate. But Jesus shattered that hate-based mentality when He not only approached the Samaritan woman at the well (a Jewish “How could you?” act!), but He began a conversation about the difference between momentary, thirst-returning well water and God’s healing, everlasting, thirst-quenching eternal spring water of LIFE.

Once the beautiful miracle of birth is over, the messy reality of “afterbirth” comes. This same process takes place in our spiritual lives, too, because there’s a mess in the life of every believer after we’re born again. While we still have consequences for our actions, Jesus not only gives us life after birth — He also gives us afterlife in eternity with Him.
