What scares you about the future? It’s easy to be afraid of what lies ahead, because you don’t always know what comes next. But God does; nothing takes Him by surprise. Trust that He holds your future, and He’ll lead you according to His will.

Many people walk through life fearing all the “what ifs” that could happen. But when we put our faith in God, we trade our “what ifs” for “what is” — and what is certain is that God promises to take care of us, provide for all our needs, and work all things for our good, no matter what negative situations come our way.

Just like Adam and Eve hid from God in the Garden once they disobeyed His instructions, we, too, have a tendency to hide from God when we sin. But despite our fear of being found out, God already knows the things we try to hide — and He wants to offer us hope in a future that He’s lovingly planned, if only we’re willing to come out of the dark.

There is no fear in love, but there is perfect love when we trust in God through faith. We can choose to give in to the “fear knot” that allows the voice of the enemy to override the voice of God, or we can keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and in turn keep our hearts and minds in perfect peace, even in the middle of the biggest storm.

There’s a “heavenly fear” FOR God which translates to reverence and respect. Then there’s an “earthly fear” OF Him which translates to distrust and discontentment. Then there’s NO FEAR in His perfect love through Jesus, because His love casts out ALL fear. Untie yourself from the wrong kind of “fear” today and be free in Christ!

The devil’s attempts to scare us are a 24/7 job — because he knows that when we live in bondage to fear, we can do nothing of use for God. But when the Spirit of God lives inside us, we have nothing to fear. When we truly believe that the Lord is greater than anything that can come at us, we realize that nothing compares to His mighty power!

Psalm 27:1 reads, “The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?” The only reason we should fear anything is if we don’t have God living in us and fighting for us. But when we have the Lord on our side, He’s stronger than anything the devil can throw at us!

There’s a difference between the godly fear we should have for the Lord, and the ungodly fear the devil tries to surround us with in this life. God’s promised to take care of us, and with Him, there is no reason for us to fear. Instead of letting the enemy lock us down in dread of what could go wrong, what if we allowed God’s love to free us from that bondage?

We’re all afraid of something. But the Bible tells us that when God’s in us, there’s nothing to fear! When He calls us to do something, He’ll equip us to do it, too. So what do we need to do to face our fears and live in His spirit of power and love?
